Solix Technologies Introduces Fourth Generation of Enterprise Data Management Solutions

Solix Enterprise Data Management Suite facilitates compliance and information lifecycle management from a single platform for enterprise customers

SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 19, 2007 – Solix Technologies today announced its fourth generation of Compliance and Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) solutions, the Solix Enterprise Data Management Suite (Solix EDMS), that help companies more efficiently classify, manage and secure enterprise data for information governance, tiered storage strategies and application data consolidations.

The Solix Enterprise Data Management Suite is composed of Compliance and ILM solutions. At the core of the new Solix EDMS is the Solix Enterprise Metadata Manager, which manages multiple application and data types across all hardware platforms. The Solix Enterprise Metadata Manager enables centralized management of data security policies whether the data resides in the production instance or in test and development copies.

Solix’s modular architecture enables customers to solve immediate data management needs while leveraging existing capital investments for future initiatives. The Solix Enterprise Data Management Suite is pre-populated with the metadata for popular ERP’s such as Oracle eBusiness Suite (including Oracle Process Manufacturing), Oracle PeopleSoft and Oracle JDEdwards, and provides a drag and drop tool to configure metadata for custom applications.

“Too often the ability to meet compliance requirements, information governance and Federal regulations places unnecessary burden on corporate IT professionals,” said Sai Gundavelli, chief executive officer, Solix Technologies. “Identifying and locating electronic information does not need to be like trying to find a needle in a haystack – provided that you used the right tool for the job. The Solix Enterprise Data Management Suite will enable the world’s largest customers to more easily manage the vast amount of data that they collect as part of on-going business operations; ensure its security; and be able to meet U.S. and international laws that govern the security and privacy of personal customer information using a phased implementation approach so they can tackle immediate problems now while leveraging their investments for future initiatives.”

With security events and threats at an all time high and news of lost tapes, stolen laptops and customer data breaches, organizations need to ensure they are taking the necessary steps to protect confidential information. According to Enterprise Strategy Group, with as much as half of an enterprise’s confidential data residing in ERP, CRM, and custom applications, organizations need to ensure these environments are secure. In addition, today’s enterprises are struggling to manage critical and confidential data more efficiently during a time in which storage budgets have shown continuous increases despite declining storage costs.

Over the next four years, the Enterprise Strategy Group expects organizations to archive approximately 7,500 petabytes of database information to help comply with record retention regulations, retain structured information online at lower costs, and create development environments supporting infrastructure and software upgrades. “There are clear benefits of managing database information from a single platform as organizations must deal with evolving information security, information privacy and information retention regulations” said Brian Babineau, Senior Analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group. “Whether it is creating a secure development environment, sunsetting aged database applications, or leveraging inexpensive storage, Solix provides a comprehensive suite of products designed to facilitate more efficient database management.”

With the Solix EDMS, organizations will be able to manage compliance and ILM initiatives from a single platform providing organizations with the tools to:

  • Mitigate Risk: Significantly reduce security threats by masking confidential database data within archives and test and development environments;
  • Reduce Storage Costs: Leverage tiered storage strategies for more efficient data lifecycle management;
  • Enforce Consistent Security Policies: Implement consistent data security policies and enforce those policies when archiving and migrating data
  • Audit Data: Audit database activity, providing audit notifications and reports that can be searched and retrieved during an E-Discovery investigation; and
  • Retire legacy applications: Migrate and archive legacy data for application and infrastructure upgrades

Solix Compliance Solutions:

  • Solix Secure Test and Development allows organizations to automatically create database copies while masking sensitive data in non-production environments for improved security, faster test and development cycles, and reduced storage costs.
  • Solix Data Auditor is a policy driven security tool that monitors and reports on what data has been accessed, updated or deleted, providing event notification and reporting of database activity in a secure repository that can be searched during an audit or eDiscovery inquiry.

Solix Information Lifecycle Management Solutions:

  • Solix Enterprise Database Archiving, formerly Solix ARCHIVEjinni, archives all data (application, email, documents and other files) to a secure, controlled, and searchable archive laying a foundation to support eDiscovery.
  • Solix Application Retirement leverages the Solix Enterprise Metadata Manager and allows database administrators to map metadata between legacy and current applications and create conversion rules to ensure seamless data migration.

“Our customers are looking for ways to solve their database management and security challenges,” said Amitava Sharma, Global Head Oracle Practice, Wipro Technologies. “With so many different solutions out there, it is critical that customers can streamline and simplify their IT infrastructure while addressing their evolving needs. The Solix Enterprise Data Management Suite gives enterprises both: the ability to implement the solutions they need today, with the infrastructure in place to address future database management challenges.” Wipro Technologies is a member of the Solix Global Partner Network.

The Solix Enterprise Data Management Suite (EDMS) is available for all custom and packaged applications including Oracle E=Business Suite, PeopleSoft and JDEdwards, and supports Oracle, DB2, SQL Server and any other database that utilizes a JDBC driver. The Solix Enterprise Data Management Suite of products is available immediately from Solix Technologies and members of the Solix Global Partner Network. Solix Technologies Advances Oracle Strategy at Oracle OpenWorld

Solix adds three new data management solutions to its suite of Oracle products to extend the functionality and enhance the performance of the Oracle E-Business suite application

Sunnyvale, Calif., and Oracle OpenWorld, San Francisco, Calif., – (October 23, 2006) – Solix Technologies, a leader in enterprise data management solutions for Information Lifecycle Management (ILM), announced today three new offerings for the Oracle® E-business suite platform. The enterprise-class solutions – Solix ARCHIVEjinni™ with Google Enterprise Search, Solix MIGRATEjinni™, and an Oracle-validated non-trigger version of Solix ARCHIVEjinni – further the company’s commitment to delivering innovative solutions for ILM that extend the functionality and enhance the performance of Oracle enterprise resource planning applications.

“Offering a solution that extends Google Enterprise Search to enterprise data (Applications, Email, Documents) with Solix ARCHIVEjinni, and providing a platform for application migrations or consolidations thru Solix MIGRATEjinni, showcases our strategy and commitment to delivering products in the Enterprise Data Management space that improve and add value to the Oracle platform for IT and end users,” said Sai Gundavelli, chief executive officer, Solix Technologies. “In addition, we are the first to offer an alternative to trigger-based archiving for Oracle E-Business Suite allowing enterprises to implement effective data management policies that won’t compromise system performance and availability.”

The new components of the Solix ARCHIVEjinni suite of solutions for the Oracle platform include:

Solix ARCHIVEjinni with Google Enterprise Search – the first customer-ready search enabled active archiving system for all enterprise data. Solix ARCHIVEjinni with Enterprise Search uses the Google Search Appliance to enhance the capabilities of its unified data management software platform by adding content-specific search capabilities, making it easy to retrieve any type of data across production and archived instances, thus improving an organization’s ability to manage data as its value changes over time and more effectively gain business intelligence from their enterprise data.

Solix MIGRATEjinni – O ffers rich functionality for fast and secure data migration across applications with simplified, graphically represented data mapping and conversion capabilities. Its system-independent framework enables clients to seamlessly switch from existing applications and business processes to better applications. Solix MIGRATEjinni simulates a test environment for data migration where you can test data integrity and validate conversion, resulting in a tightly controlled data migration across applications, which reduces the associated time and costs of the migration project. Solix MIGRATEjinni will also be an ideal tool for simplifying and accelerating the effort needed for an organization to upgrade in the future to Oracle Fusion.

Oracle Validated Non-trigger Version of Solix ARCHIVEjinni – To earn Oracle validation, the non-trigger version of Solix ARCHIVEjinni passed a series of rigorous tests to ensure that it integrates with the Oracle E-business suite, operates correctly in the Oracle environment and maintains data integrity. Prior to the validation of the non-trigger version of the Solix ARCHIVEjinni active archiving solution, all previously Oracle-validated archiving solutions used database triggers – procedural codes that add an additional layer of complexity and overhead to a database, potentially degrading system performance and reliability. The new non-trigger version of Solix ARCHIVEjinni is a less intrusive active archiving solution, thereby improving system performance and reducing administrative overhead. For information on the Oracle validated non-trigger version of Solix ARCHIVEjinni please see www.solix.com/company/news-events/press-releases.

The three new solutions join the Solix family of solutions for the Oracle platform. Earlier this year Solix announced Solix ARCHIVEjinni for Oracle Process Manufacturing and a strategic partnership with Sierra Atlantic to deliver the first active archiving solution specifically designed for Oracle Process Manufacturing. Oracle Process Manufacturing is an end-to-end enterprise application that automates the entire production cycle for process-based manufacturing including products such as metals, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, paint, food and beverages.

Solix ARCHIVEjinni for Oracle Process Manufacturing is the first archiving solution that addresses the intricacies of Oracle Process Manufacturing applications, such as protecting secret recipes and formulations while simultaneously making them available via a keyword search. This is achieved by using a unified platform that can organize, manage, archive and search all types of data: structured (from applications), semi-structured (email), and unstructured (documents and images).

By implementing Solix ARCHIVEjinni for Oracle Process Manufacturing, users can manage their entire archiving process from a single application, making it easy to reduce storage costs, improve application performance and comply with regulations. For information on the Solix ARCHIVEjinni for Oracle Process Manufacturing please see https://www.solix.com/company/news-events/press-releases/archived-news/solix-technologies-launches-ilm-industrys-most-extensive-data-security-and-data-subsetting-solutions/

Customers interested in learning more about the Solix ARCHIVEjinni solutions can contact Solix Technologies directly or through the Solix Global Partner Network.

The Solix ARCHIVEjinni non-trigger based solution ensures fast and efficient archive routines that won’t bog down your production instance.

Prior to the validation of the non-trigger version of Solix ARCHIVEjinni, previously Oracle-validated archiving solutions in the market used database triggers – procedural codes that add an additional layer of complexity and overhead to a database, potentially degrading system performance and reliability. The new non-trigger version of Solix ARCHIVEjinni offers a less intrusive active archiving solution over current trigger-based ones and is designed to improve system performance and reduce administrative overhead.

Solix’s ARCHIVEjinni is the only database archiving platform available that offers an Oracle certified solution for both non-trigger-based and trigger-based approaches for Oracle E-Business Suite. Customers can now archive Oracle E-Business Suite database tables to an active archive database improving overall system performance, while maintaining all transactional referential integrity and complete transparent access to the archived data for end-users,

The Oracle PartnerNetwork Application Integration Initiative gives customers confidence that integrations between Oracle Applications and complementary ISV solutions have been validated and the products work together as designed. This can reduce risk, improve system implementation cycles, and provide for smoother upgrades and simpler maintenance. This initiative is available to qualifying partners in the Oracle PartnerNetwork, and applies a rigorous technical process to validate the integrations of third-party software to Oracle Applications products. Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL) provides tools, resources and training to assist partners in the integration. Partners who have successfully validated their integrations are authorized to use the “Integrated with Oracle” logo. “We’re happy to have completed the validation of the integration of the non-trigger based version of Solix ARCHIVEjinni,” said Tom Herrmann, vice president of ISV management and programs at Oracle. “Users of the Oracle E-business suite can now implement the non-trigger-based version of Solix ARCHIVEjinni knowing that this satisfies the Application Integration Initiative standards.”

Solix ARCHIVEjinni is the only active archiving solution with a unified architecture that enables structured, semi-structured and unstructured data to be searched and retrieved from a single application. It uses a single metadata repository for all enterprise data, simplifying the task of enterprise search and eliminating redundant data across multiple systems. With its unified architecture, it is deployable across enterprise applications, custom applications, data warehouses, email systems and unstructured data types that would usually require multiple point solutions to achieve the same functionality.

“As a former executive for Oracle India, I understand the impact database triggers can have on system performance. Now a customer can get the benefits of data organization and optimization that active archiving provides with the added benefits that eliminating triggers provides,” said Shekhar Dasgupta, president & chief operating officer, Solix Technologies. “The return on investment that customers will immediately realize include improved IT system performance, streamlined and simplified systems management and reduced overhead.”

The non-trigger version of the Solix ARCHIVEjinni active archiving solution is available now. Customers can license Solix ARCHIVEjinni directly from Solix Technologies or through the Solix Global Partner Network.
